Model High School Lessons
Problem Based Units
Project or problem based units may seem like a daunting task for social studies, but this method actually empowers students to engage in the material by creating a driving interest and developing skills for thinking like a historian. I have chosen to design some units that implement strategies from the Gold Standard of Project Based Learning, Bruce Lesh's strategies from Why Won't You Just Tell Us the Answer?, and the 5E teaching model often used in science instruction.
I will be sharing teacher resources such as lesson plans and Power Points here on this website. The student friendly pages, organized by unit, are accessible by clicking the button below. These pages are designed for your students to work through the units. Use the page links at the top to navigate to various units including the Civil War and American Imperialism/Becoming a Global Power.
